History

Robert A. Kieffer              Founder, Chairman of the Board

Our resident “Bearing Expert”, Robert Kieffer has over 60 years in the industrial supply and service industry. He provides a depth of knowledge to our company that cannot be duplicated. Robert began his career owning one of the largest independent bearing distributorships in the Northeast and Canada. He was a pioneer in developing supply chain systems, bearing databases and online ordering using technology that predated the internet. He was invited to speak at the IBM Distribution Conferences, and he holds many patents on bearing sealing elements to his name.

Robert founded International Source Index, Inc. in 1991 and successfully brought the power of bearing data to the desktop by developing a client-based tool to be used in plant storerooms. The Bearing Expert™  bearing library is the only independent bearing interchange and ball and roller bearing vibration fault frequency database available worldwide.

With the long-standing relationships with major bearing manufacturers expansion into bearing frequency data was a natural fit for The Bearing Expert™. Our customers asked for this data and ISI delivered long before these data points were available on the web.

ISI takes pride in the fact that 30 years later The Bearing Expert™ still remains the only bearing database for users to access vibration data for over 100 major manufacturers in a single location.
